The field of wearable robotics presently focuses on prostheses and exoskeletons, designed to either replace lost human capabilities or to enhance existing ones. They have reached considerable maturity in terms of research and commercialization efforts over the past decades.
More recently, we are witnessing the advent of another class of wearable robots: supernumerary robotic (SR) devices. SR devices add capabilities to a human body beyond the naturally occurring, and are often designed as additional limbs.

This workshop is the first-of-its kind meeting of researchers in the emerging area of SR devices, to share the latest advances and discuss trends and future directions, including:

-
Invited talks by established SR device researchers.
-
Short contributed presentations on works in progress.
-
A panel discussion on the current status and challenges for SR devices.
-
Participating in writing a position paper on SR devices highlighting directions for the future of the field.
